🔨 Crafting Guide — All Recipes & Materials

Complete crafting table progression, every recipe with material costs, and the optimal crafting priority order for Survive the Apocalypse. Updated April 2026.

📋 Crafting Table Progression

The Crafting Table is your primary manufacturing station. It starts at Level 1 and can be upgraded to Level 3, unlocking increasingly powerful items at each tier. Upgrading the table costs accumulated resources.

Level 1 — Makeshift

Basic survival items: Makeshift Revolver, Makeshift Grenades, Makeshift Armor, basic fences, barricades. Available from game start.

Level 2 — Standard

Standard fragmentation grenades, blue electric fences, improved defenses, barbed wire. Requires mid-game resources and generator expansion.

Level 3 — Military

Automated turrets, Time Machines, landmines, advanced defensive structures. The endgame tier — essential for Day 100.

🎯 Priority Crafting Order

Not all crafts are equal. Here's the optimal order to maximize your survival efficiency:

Priority 1: Makeshift Armor Cost: 1 Metal + 1 Stone. Provides 35% damage reduction. Despite the "makeshift" name, this is internally classified as a Rare item. The cost-to-benefit ratio is the best in the game. Craft this within the first 5 minutes.
Priority 2: Makeshift Revolver Your first ranged weapon. Low damage but infinitely better than melee for early-game Bandit encounters and Night 1 defense.
Priority 3: Basic Fences & Barricades Build your initial perimeter before nightfall. Focus on creating chokepoints at the 4 main gates rather than a full wall.
Priority 4: Upgrade Crafting Table to Level 2 Unlocks electric fences and standard grenades — massive defensive upgrades over makeshift items.
Priority 5: Blue Electric Fences The cornerstone of the concentric defense paradigm. Stun + damage on contact, disrupting horde momentum.
Priority 6: Upgrade Crafting Table to Level 3 Unlocks turrets and Time Machines — the endgame essentials.
Priority 7: Automated Turrets (×8) Deploy 2 per gate for 360° automated defense. With Engineer class: +20% turret damage bonus. This is the #1 investment for Day 100 survival.
Priority 8: Time Machines (×2) Each adds +1x to the day multiplier. Combined with 4 Power Plants, reaches the 7x cap. Only build AFTER your turret defense is operational.

📦 Material Farming Guide

Five core resources fuel all crafting in Survive the Apocalypse. Here's where to find them and what they're best used for:

ResourceWhere to FarmPrimary UsesFarming Priority
ScrapsUrban scavenging (common, all zones)Traps, weapon mods, basic craftingEarly Game
ScrewsUrban scavenging (common, all zones)Weapon mods, advanced traps, turretsEarly Game
WoodEnvironmental harvesting (trees, crates)Basic structures, barricades, fencesEarly Game
MetalExpanded zones (mid-game+)Turrets, armor, electric fences, heavy gatesCritical Mid-Game
StoneExpanded zones (mid-game+)Armor crafting, reinforced wallsCritical Mid-Game
Pro Tip: Upgrade your backpack at the Merchant NPC (costs Zombie Skulls) as early as possible. Larger inventory = more materials per scavenging run = faster base construction. The backpack upgrade has a cascading positive effect on all other progression.

🔧 Engineer Class Crafting Synergy

The Engineer class transforms crafting from a simple resource sink into a force multiplier:

+25% Building HP

Every fence, wall, and gate you build has 25% more health. This means your crafted structures last significantly longer against horde attacks and Bandit grenades.

+20% Turret Damage

Your 8 turrets deal 20% more DPS. Applied across the entire base, this is the difference between clearing waves automatically and needing manual intervention.

2x Repair Speed

Repair damaged structures at double speed during active assaults. During Blood Moon, this allows real-time maintenance of breached walls without losing the perimeter.
